Posted May 26th, 2010 02:36 PM IP It's summertime......
Has anyone w/ pre-teen girls found a good place to purchase modest swim suits? We want a one piece suit and would like something that has shorts w/ it. Most places I've checked out online either cost alot ($60-100) or have something I don't like-a low neckline, a bikini, a tankini, ect. Our daughter is 9 and wears a size 10 dress....and is growing, so I don't envision her wearing this suit for more than this year, or two at the max. She does NOT like the whole tank top or T-shirt option w/ swim shorts because the water pushes the fabric away from her chest and the boys can see too much. (and we agree) Maybe you've already walked this road and have another option we haven't thought of already? Posted May 26th, 2010 03:46 PM IP I think I would buy a modest one piece like this one at
Target
And wear it with a cute pair of Board Shorts
Both are cheap. Around $10 each. Amber

Posted May 26th, 2010 03:51 PM IP This one at Kmart is adorable if she wouldn't mind a skirt instead of shorts. And it's sold as a set.
And Kohl's has some modest one-pieces that could be worn with the above shorts. Amber

Posted May 26th, 2010 03:59 PM IP Wow, you are fast! I set up our kids' pool this afternoon and she's running around in a pair of shorts and a shirt w/ just the little boys-no big boys. So she's fine for now, but she's been bugging me about it ALL DAY and what you showed up there looks perfect! \
I think the skirt is really cute, but I also think it's a little flirty. JMO. lol I do. not. like. flirty on a little girl who's supposed to be innocent.
The Target outfits are great though! and we even have a Target around here.
I feel hope.
(i was kind of distressed earlier, too) lol Blessed mama to Cali-11, Charles-10, Bryce-8, Braden-6, Jamon-4, Asher-22 mo., Joash-9/6/12. Well-loved wife for 12 amazing years.

What about wearing a tank top on top of a swimsuit? Cathy

Posted May 27th, 2010 02:39 PM IP I like Land's End options for my girls although they aren't cheap and the more modest ensembles are two pieces. To cut the cost I ordered from the after season sales and was very pleased with what I got. (The two pieces overlap quite well and do not float away from the body. Even though picking choice was a bit more limited, the girls loved what they got. ) Wishing you success in your search!! Sylvia - mom to five - Ana-13, Adria-9, Jacob-6, Caleb-2, Isaac-1

Bless you as a mother for teaching her, that she's already that sensitive about modesty, that she would think about that! I know this is hijacking this thread, but any tips for this young mom? Gina- happy wife of Lavern, blessed Mama to Amanda, Lane, Trent, and Allison
