Are your children (and the mom) as tired of this long drawn out winter as we are??? I wanted something to spice our days up, but not make a bunch of extra work for me. My friend was telling me about finding daily wacky holidays. There is 1+ thing for every day of the year.... such as.... yesterday was "bless the mailman day", today was "red shirt and national bubble gum day". The joy of all wearing red shirts and chewing HUGE wads of gum as we worked was fun to see.
I just googled it and there are various sites, we pro won't manage to do 1 every day but I am making a small calendar for the next weeks and writing things in them.
Here is the one site I found http://www.giftypedia.com/February_Holidays

True signs of a good home school mom^^^^. I think doing things like that^^ . It makes for great memories. I especially like to incorporate what we are learning into the fun.

Our teacher put a note with the days activity inside balloons then every evening before going home we popped a balloon to see what we would be doing the next day. She numbered the balloons so she would know ahead of time what was planned. We loved it!

Ok, I'm 'bumping' this up cause tomorrow is the 100th day of school in this house and I'd like to do something fun. I'm thinking of doing the 'note in a balloon' thing and popping one like every hour and doing whatever the note says, but.... what should the notes say? Any ideas? I got some candy around so i can write 'take a candy break" on one.... what are your ideas?

Brayden is supposed to bring 100 of something to school. Anything, dumb or little. Maybe you could have one find 100 pennies or something.

Have them find 3 things in the house that start with the first letter of their name.

... a treasure hunt
...wear pajamas all day
...spread a blanket on the living room floor and have a picnic lunch
...or make mini pizzas for lunch
...skip a subject
...make cards for someone
I taught school for 10 years and I loved those special days even if they were more work for me! It made the children so happy! Maybe I will think of some more ideas!!
