Can't wait for it! It has been too long since I have bought a new Neil/Horse album or seen them live.

That's amazing when it turns into Cortez 20 minutes in. Neil's voice is great.

I know exactly why he chose to share that particular recording as well. It has so much Rust-y fumblings, with Ralph stumbling uncertainly over the drums, and then somehow, the Horse rise from the depths of the sea after their long, long layoff and get to a serious, dark, emotional place that only they can get to. Pure triumph. Never sleeps, man.

One of the best concerts I've ever seen is Neil back in 1991. Crazy Horse, Sonic Youth and Social Distortion. Blew out my ears. Fantastic.

I think my favorite was when I saw him in '96, if only because they closed the show with an epic rendition of "Dangerbird". Jewel opened. I have that show on a cassette tape somewhere. If I ever find it I gotta transfer it to CD.

I hadn't been to many concerts at that time. At that point I wasn't a huge Neil fan, either. I grew up hearing it in my house and I liked some of his tunes, but most of it was his quieter stuff (and weird shit like Trans). So I went along with my Dad, thinking it was going to have some of everything from his catalog. I wasn't prepared for what hit me. I mean, Sonic Youth and Social Distortion prepared me somewhat for what was coming-but when Jimi's Star Spangled Banner was done and I saw those huge amps, and the first notes of 'Hey Hey', hit me, it was like a ton of bricks. As a 16 year old kid, it was one of the first times realizing that 'Hey, old people can kick ass, too!'.

Get A Job is on there! I must admit to being puzzled and disappointed by the concept of the album, but if it all sounds like their version of Farmer John, I'll be happy.

I'm okay with it but hope there's an album of originals with the Horse to follow. I hope they drift far from the blueprints and get crazy...."GIMME SOME OF THAT CRACK!"....you know what I mean?

The cover reminds me of this:

God save the queen??????????? Americana????

Wouldn't that be....er....Britanicana (should such a word exist, which, if it doesn't, it does now).

Sounds like another Neil album destined to be played once and then put on the shelf to gather dust with the rest of his post 2000 records.

I really hope it's the trad version, I've no desire to hear Neil opining that she ain't no human bean. I mean, unless this is the story of Johnny Rotten.

I have hope it maybe will be cool. The jam/"Cortez" posted at the top was a ride. Neil seems to have allowed the most intense Crazy Horse period to run its course in the '90s, so there's plenty of that already .. of course I still want more. Anyway, they're supposed to be working on TWO albums ...

Last week I found myself out of nowhere playing the shit out of Eldorado again. Along that line also checked out the Bronco Bowl show detailed in Shakey. Somewhat shattering but still prefer Eldorado.

Also been digging on Loose. I can see how people rate it lower than the s/t (I mean, I do, too), but I still like it quite a bit.

Haven't played Loose in years, but I always thought it was OK. The first one is gret though.

Eldorado is fabulous. Only got the LP but it always sounded SO much better than the same songs on Freedom.

Well, I've listened to that Bronco Bowl show several times now since my last comment on it, when I'd only listened to it once. It is really terrific. In some ways I'd rather hear Crazy Horse do the songs they're known for instead of the Restless, but this BB version of "Like a Hurricane" gives me chills. And I think I'll take this "Cocaine Eyes" over the Eldorado one. Neil's guitar actually sounds like bombs going off. His playing in general is just so focused on direct and powerful at this point.

Is there a dirgier national anthem anywhere on the planet.

The 6th verse gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.

6. Lord grant that Marshal Wade
May by thy mighty aid
Victory bring
May he sedition hush
And like a torrent rush
Rebellious Scots to crush
God save the King

We don't ALWAYS sing that verse though....no-one really knows the words past the first verse really. I bet Neil doesn't get as far as verse 6 anyway.

You would think after 300 years of not coming up there and stealing your sheep and ravaging your women you might have forgiven us for the odd misdeed or two. And hey, it's not as if you didn't invade us too...

Nothing to forgive - just a shit song. Flower of Scotland is as dirgier and even more Anti-English than GSTQ is Anti-Scottish.

The pro/anti-independence atmosphere up here is boring, with a childish level of debate and a scaremongering back-ground.

Meanwhile ordinary people in the UK get screwed, from the, left, right and centre by poiticos/hedge-betters and most anyone who is in a position to fix a price. Rust Never Sleeps.

The sooner Thatcher dies and an objective look is taken at her "legacy" the better.

I remain resolutely and actively apolitical.

I would be political if we had anyone at all running for office that wasn't a total shit head who was in it simply to grab their little bit of power and as much money as possible. It's barely even possible to work out who is worse any more. Well, almost....
