It's a streamlined, no-filler affair. Takes its cues from a pretty broad range of influences. Mood-wise, it's quite full-on. Not aggressive in the sense that it's negative.. unrelenting, maybe. I think it's bold and brilliant.
I think he's had some previous involvement with Outkast, which I need to look into
Please listen and recommend some more stuff!"The other thing is that the quality of the mp3's I listen to varies especially as some of the music from the likes of Led Zeppelin is old, even with re-mastering still isnt up to the quality of the likes of Def Leppard."

Another guy I haven't heard much by. I think he produced the latest Killer Mike album. Really tough, epic album.. To give you an idea, the first track sounds like Swastika Eyes by Primal Scream for its instrumental first three minutes before the first vocals come in. It's really dense and will take a lot of listens to make sense of, but it could be great. It's worth your time!
Anyone liking the Killer Mike? Any more recommendations for him?"The other thing is that the quality of the mp3's I listen to varies especially as some of the music from the likes of Led Zeppelin is old, even with re-mastering still isnt up to the quality of the likes of Def Leppard."

Posted May 21st, 2012 06:15 PM IPHope you like it mate, it's an intense, bracing listen. I've had it on a loop all day and have just about got in the right headspace for it. Haven't heard this combination of hard electronica and rap before, but it works.
PS, congrats on trophy #2!"The other thing is that the quality of the mp3's I listen to varies especially as some of the music from the likes of Led Zeppelin is old, even with re-mastering still isnt up to the quality of the likes of Def Leppard."

CHEERS!!!! Thank GOD I was at home - Drogba scored that penalty and I honestly collapsed on the floor and cried my eyes out. My mate had to pull me to my feet cos I was a wreck. Then about 30 minutes after that, the same mate "had a vision" and found our cat that had been missing for a week and brought him home. And later that night I finished a new downtempo tune that's prolly the best one I've ever done.
Needless to say, Saturday May 19th, 2012 was one of the best days of my life.Richard Page, leader of Mr. Mister, is secretly gay.

Posted May 25th, 2012 09:17 AM IPi don't really read reviews but i've looked up these guys and the reviewers seem to have got it spot on. If I had to choose between them, I'd say the Killer Mike is more fun. It's not like a light-hearted romp, but it could go on at a party. The El-P has more depth (possibly (whatever that means)). If you pay attention to the lyrics there's a lot of empathy there, a caring soul beneath the searing noise.
Another one coming up is by Death Grips. I honestly have no idea what to make of it, but I'll up it for you guys a bit later."The other thing is that the quality of the mp3's I listen to varies especially as some of the music from the likes of Led Zeppelin is old, even with re-mastering still isnt up to the quality of the likes of Def Leppard."

Posted July 4th, 2012 05:23 PM IPTell me about Odd Future-is it any good? I've heard a couple of tracks, not too shabby. Frank Ocean came out of the closet, I guess, which is pretty brave to do in the hip-hop world. One of the strangest videos I've seen was by Tyler The Creator, Domo Genesis and someone else....shit, it was great, and the track was hot. Our Band could be Your Life.

Posted July 10th, 2012 12:58 PM IPIt's such a sadness that people even have to "come out", these days. Ideally, a person's sexuality should be about as important to someone else as what they have for breakfast in the morning. I get how it's a brave move for a hip hop guy to make, but I sort of agree with Chuck D that it'd be a bigger deal if an actual rapper "came out".
Killer performance on Fallon
I'd still like to see the songwriting tightened up a bit, but he's an interesting artist for sure. Looking forward to getting the album in a few weeks"The other thing is that the quality of the mp3's I listen to varies especially as some of the music from the likes of Led Zeppelin is old, even with re-mastering still isnt up to the quality of the likes of Def Leppard."

Bad Religion isn't an indication of what Channel Orange is like.
It has some really strong compositions -- his best tunes so far. Explorations into the fog that N/U didn't hint at either.

Posted July 11th, 2012 07:57 AM IPOh man, tighter than Swim Good or Songs for Women? Frank writes jams for Beiber!
But yeah, this album, Channel Orange, is going to be huge. I think it will appeal to a lot of people. The songwriting is immense. Think Stevie Wonder. NPR is going to go nuts for this. I think if a lot of listeners leave their baggage at the door regarding modern r n b, there will Amy Winehouse-levels of adoration for this guy by the end of the year.

Posted July 11th, 2012 12:17 PM IPPS Moog, have you jammed the new R. Kelly yet? I have only heard the single, Share My Love, which was all kinds of great. But his albums can be hit and miss.

This. What you said. And also: I'm not Moog, but I'm jamming the fuck outta the R. Kelly. It's not 100% solid but it is MOSTLY phenomenal and way worth getting FOR SURE. Trust me.I don't know why I ever believed the Chipmunks had the lowdown on punk.

The R Kelly is good, occasionally great. I listened to 12 Play recently and liked that a lot more though"The other thing is that the quality of the mp3's I listen to varies especially as some of the music from the likes of Led Zeppelin is old, even with re-mastering still isnt up to the quality of the likes of Def Leppard."

Posted October 23rd, 2012 06:27 PM IPNew Kendrick Lamarr album is brilliant. Otherworldly, really gets under your skin. His ability to relay and dramatise his past reminds me of Biggie, in a way. Well worth your time - could be one of the best of the year - a real talent."The other thing is that the quality of the mp3's I listen to varies especially as some of the music from the likes of Led Zeppelin is old, even with re-mastering still isnt up to the quality of the likes of Def Leppard."

Yes! So good! Vinyl is on back order already unfortunately. His performance on Conan not long ago was really great.
