Posted February 9th, 2011 01:00 PM IPThese have been absolutely brilliant. I thought the second tv series of Partridge was really lackluster and the idea of a PArtridge film set in the US filled me with dread even if Coogan, Ianucci and Baynham are writing it.
These though: this is why PArtridge is funny. There's no wacky, outrageous situations - just beautifully observed moments of awkwardness, and some really subtle performances from Coogan and Tim Keys (Sidekick Simon). The funniest bits of I'm Alan Partridge were always just him chatting bollocks to whoever would listen.
I love how Partridge is just about on the verge of insanity but manages to pull himself back from losing it on several occasions. I also love how he seems to use the "SIDEKICK SIMON! SIDEKICK SIMON!" jingle solely to humiliate Sidekick Simon.
"YOU'RE FROM HOLT, JILL! YOU'RE FROM HOOOOOOOOLLT!!!"
This bit at the end of the sixth episode is amazing:
"I'm suggesting that ONE PERSON throw himself off Clifton Suspension Bridge because he is, and hopefully soon-to-be was, a very unpleasant indiviual, a bit like... Jamiroquai" "The other thing is that the quality of the mp3's I listen to varies especially as some of the music from the likes of Led Zeppelin is old, even with re-mastering still isnt up to the quality of the likes of Def Leppard."

Yeah - his ego is so overblown, but incredibly fragile at the same time, that he is often tottering on the brink of some form of collapse. Like many of the best comedy characters created, Alan is full of pathos.
I love the bit in Mid Morning Matters, Episode 7, when he intricately peels an orange, considers it briefly, then stuffs the whole thing in his mouth - then continues to read his paper whilst slurping and drooling. So funny!Georgie likes ducks!

Posted February 15th, 2011 05:22 AM IPThat one was absolutely excruciating - i loved it. Wonderful how he basically fell apart on their show about current affairs, then popped next door to his studio and was completely back in his comfort zone talking about absolute twaddle. Really delightful ending to that one.
The quality of these is amazingly high given that it's internet-only and sponsored by a weak, pissy lager."The other thing is that the quality of the mp3's I listen to varies especially as some of the music from the likes of Led Zeppelin is old, even with re-mastering still isnt up to the quality of the likes of Def Leppard."

Posted March 4th, 2011 10:12 AM IPGreat one this week. Quite subtle for the first ten minutes - a few chuckles.
When he broke into his horse story to stop the guy from killing himself though, i was almost wetting myself laughing. "I slipped on some shit and crashed into a horse... i shattered both of its legs - well, two of them, it had four..."

Posted March 4th, 2011 10:18 AM IPSame here, the "horseicide" story had me rolling. Also, the "intense burst of underwater crying" line is Partridge to a tee.Georgie likes ducks!

This is just the trailer Welcome To The Places Of My Life - which I can't put here yet, cos Rupert Murdoch owns it, or something...
So instead - ALAN MEETS ROGER DALTREY!

Posted July 18th, 2012 10:48 PM IPI am drinking a 'Snowball' whilst watching this. It has frozen (the video, not the snowball!), but I do not not think that this is related to the piracy (the snowball, nor the video)...Georgie likes ducks!
